March 30-April 3, 2009
Tuition: $585 + $35 model fee
About the workshop
This workshop covers the philosophy, principles and techniques of drawing and oil painting through lectures, demonstration and practice sessions. In the drawing sessions, students will practice observation skills. Yim will emphasize composition, moving from blocks to details, creating a drawing with the textured feeling of oil painting, and the relationship between drawing and oil painting. In the painting sessions, students will learn how to observe colors and light and capture the colors on the palette. Above all, students will learn how to create an oil painting that has the feel of an oil painting, not just a painting created with oil colors. Students will receive individual attention and are encouraged to bring their works in for critique. Students should have a minimum two years of experience in drawing and oil painting.
